1 c. brown sugar
1/2 t. garlic powder
1/2 c. chopped onion
1.5 T. coarsely shopped or shredded fresh ginger
1-2 fresh garlic cloves
2-3 c. chopped chicken, turkey or tofu
Mix soy sauce, brown sugar & garlic powder thoroughly, & set aside.
Heat 2 t. oil in wok, or frying pan.
Add onions & cook for 2-3 minutes, add garlic & ginger & cook for 1 minute.
Add chicken, & cook for 3 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Add teriyaki sauce.
Bring to a boil.
Lower heat & allow to simmer for 15 minutes without a lid.
If a thicker sauce is desired, thicken with 2 t. cornstarch mixed with water, then slowly added to teriyaki mixture.
Serve over rice.
